MP Arzukhan Alizade’s arrested son, Ahmad Alizade, is a member of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party (AMIP).
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports, citing Gununsesi.info, that Alizade said this while speaking about his children in an interview on April 2, 2026:
“My younger son is a lawyer and graduated from university with excellent results. He also scored highly in exams at the time, but during certain periods obstacles were placed in his way because of his political views. Despite this, he later passed the civil service examinations and worked in the judicial system for a long time. He currently serves as a judge. I believe he will continue to perform his duties properly.
My eldest son and daughter are members of the party and work in various structures. Whether they continue in politics in the future is up to them.
Politics is a very difficult field. Sometimes, because people know the difficulties they have faced themselves, they do not want their children to take the same path. But I have never interfered with their choices. If they want to choose this path, I will not stand in their way and will support them.”
Ahmad Alizade is the MP’s eldest son. The Nizami District Court ordered that he be held in pretrial detention for four months. He was detained over his alleged involvement in a mass brawl at a cafe in the Ahmadli settlement that resulted in a death.
MP Arzukhan Alizade is chairman of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party. He has led AMIP since 2015.
