A suspect accused of illegally acquiring, possessing and selling firearms and ammunition has been detained in Barda district.
According to information provided to the “Operative Information Center-OMM” by the regional group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Press Service, Barda district resident Y. Fatullazade was found to have intended to sell firearms and ammunition obtained illegally.
Police seized one Kalashnikov assault rifle, a magazine and 29 rounds of ammunition from the suspect.
A criminal case has been initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code.
Investigative measures in the case are ongoing.
Barda district is located in central Azerbaijan and is part of the country’s agricultural heartland. Azerbaijani law prohibits the illegal acquisition, possession and sale of firearms and ammunition, with such cases investigated under the Criminal Code.
