A powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of the Philippines, according to international seismic monitoring agencies.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing data from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), that the seismic event occurred in the vicinity of the Philippines' Mindanao island.
According to the report, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 24 kilometers southwest of Sarangani province, with the hypocenter situated at a depth of 35 kilometers. Authorities have confirmed that there are currently no reports of casualties or significant structural damage. Furthermore, no tsunami warning has been issued following the tremor.
The Philippines is located along the Pacific "Ring of Fire," an area characterized by intense seismic and volcanic activity due to the movement of tectonic plates. Earthquakes are relatively frequent in this region, and the country maintains robust monitoring protocols to assess potential risks to coastal populations and infrastructure.
