The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has issued a statement regarding the crew of the MV Touska cargo ship, which was detained by the United States in the Gulf of Oman.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to a statement published by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the "X" platform, the 22-member crew has been brought to Pakistan and will be handed over to the Iranian side today.

The move was implemented as a confidence-building gesture by the United States, with the crew of the Iranian-owned vessel initially evacuated to Pakistan. It was noted that the ship will be stationed in Pakistani territorial waters for necessary technical inspections before being returned to its original owners. The process is being coordinated with the agreement of both the Iranian and U.S. parties.

The ministry added that Pakistan welcomes such confidence-building measures and will continue to support the promotion of dialogue and diplomacy in the region. The Gulf of Oman remains a vital maritime route for international trade, and such diplomatic efforts are seen as crucial for maintaining stability in the Middle East. Pakistan has historically played a mediating role in regional disputes, facilitating communication between Tehran and Washington to prevent further escalation in strategic waterways. This development follows a period of heightened maritime tensions, where the security of commercial shipping has been a primary concern for the international community.
