A drone attack caused a fire at a data centre operated by Russian technology company “Yandex” in the town of Sasovo in the Ryazan region, the company told Russian state news agency TASS.

The fire affected part of the facility’s infrastructure. “Yandex” said response teams were dealing with the aftermath and that no one had been injured.

The company added that operations at the data centre had been suspended and some services could be unavailable to users.

Ryazan Governor Pavel Malkov said separately that two drones had been shot down over the region overnight. In the Sasovsky district, the roof of a local enterprise caught fire and windows were blown out in several private homes, he said, adding that preliminary reports indicated there were no casualties.

Emergency services were working at the scene, Malkov said.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defences had shot down 399 Ukrainian drones over 19 regions, including Ryazan, as well as over the Black Sea and Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.

Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the reported strike.

Moscow and Kyiv have intensified strikes in recent months, targeting logistics centres, ports and energy infrastructure. Both sides deny deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure, saying their strikes are directed at military targets or facilities linked to military activity.
