Umayra Tagiyeva

She was born on 3 April 1968. She holds a PhD in Geography.

In 1990–1992, she worked as a synoptic meteorologist and engineer at the State Committee for Hydrometeorology; in 1993–2001, as head of a department at the Hydrometeorology Service; and in 2001–2015, as director of the Bureau of Hydrometeorological Forecasts of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. In 2015–2018, she was a leading researcher in the Department of Agroclimatology of the Institute of Geography of ANAS; from 2018, she served as head of the Ministry’s Environmental Outreach Department and director of the National Hydrometeorology Department; and in 2020–2023, she served as head of the National Hydrometeorology Service.

Since 4 March 2023, she has been Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources. She is the author of 46 scientific articles and co-author of 5 books.

She graduated from the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute. In 1994–1997, she was a postgraduate student at the Institute of Geography of ANAS; she holds a PhD in Geography.
