Azerbaijani judoka Zelim Tchkaev lost to Georgia’s Tato Grigalashvili in the final of the World Championships in Baku. Competing in the 81kg category, Tchkaev finished the tournament with a silver medal.
After the bout, Tchkaev said he did not want to comment on the refereeing. He said he does not like discussing refereeing decisions and would not change his position this time.
The judoka stressed that he believed he could win until the end of the bout. He said he did not think he had lost the chance to win during the contest and remained hopeful of victory until the final moment.
Asked about his previous head-to-head results against his opponent and the reasons for his defeat, Tchkaev said he was not looking for excuses: “There was no fatigue. He is stronger, and I lost. There are no excuses.”
