Azerbaijan’s team ranked second in the medal table after the second day of competition at the World Judo Championships in Baku. The team has one gold medal.
Ahmad Yusifov, who competed in the 60-kilogram division, became world champion on the opening day. His gold medal placed Azerbaijan among the leading teams in the standings.
Japan leads the medal table. Japanese athletes have won three gold and two bronze medals over the first two days, reaching the podium five times. Azerbaijan is second with one gold medal.
Athletes from nine countries had won medals after two days of competition. The championships are being held at Baku’s National Gymnastics Arena and will conclude on October 11.
