The venue for the upcoming international football match between the national teams of Azerbaijan and Lithuania, scheduled for October 4, has been officially changed.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) announced the decision through its press service.
While initial arrangements had been made with UEFA to host the match in Ganja, further discussions between the relevant parties and a comprehensive assessment of technical and logistical requirements led to the decision to move the fixture to Baku. This change has been formally coordinated and approved by UEFA.
AFFA emphasized that the relocation is not related to the readiness of Ganja city or the stadium to host the event. The decision is purely a matter of logistical optimization to ensure the smooth organization of the international match.
The Azerbaijan national football team frequently utilizes various stadiums across the country to promote the sport in different regions. Baku, as the capital, serves as the primary hub for international sporting events, hosting major infrastructure capable of accommodating high-profile matches and large spectator crowds in accordance with international standards.
