The United States leadership believes Ukraine faces an extremely harsh and difficult winter if military operations do not stop.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the U.S. presidential administration hopes to make significant diplomatic progress toward a peaceful settlement of the conflict before November’s congressional midterm elections and the onset of a severe winter.
“Everyone in the international community is currently concerned about the effects of the approaching winter. If the fighting does not stop, winter conditions in Ukraine could be catastrophic. That is why the United States is continuing its active mediation efforts to help the parties develop a unified and acceptable peace proposal,” a source cited by the publication said.
According to the report, U.S. President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the White House chief, are due to hold an expanded meeting with a Ukrainian delegation in Miami on October 9. The confidential diplomatic meeting is expected to discuss new compromise ideas for ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict and work on a joint draft document.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently thanked the U.S. leader for his initiatives and mediation efforts toward resolving the conflict in Ukraine, and expressed confidence in the sincerity of those efforts.
