US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held discussions with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand to address bilateral economic relations and regional security cooperation. The meeting took place shortly after the United States and Canada reached a new trade agreement aimed at preventing the imposition of additional customs duties between the two nations.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, the dialogue focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Washington and Ottawa.

“I met with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand to strengthen US-Canada coordination on security issues and economic priorities of mutual interest in our hemisphere,” Rubio stated following the talks.

The US Department of State confirmed that the discussions extended beyond bilateral trade. The officials addressed critical security challenges in the Arctic region, the ongoing political situation in Cuba, and the coordination of joint humanitarian assistance for Venezuela in the aftermath of recent seismic activity. These discussions underscore the enduring alliance between the US and Canada, which share deep economic ties and a long-standing commitment to North American security and stability.
