US President Donald Trump has issued stern remarks regarding Washington's position on Iran, expressing deep skepticism toward the ongoing diplomatic discourse between the two nations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Trump addressed these issues while responding to questions from journalists.
President Trump alleged that Iran has repeatedly misled the United States during negotiations, emphasizing that he has no confidence in Tehran's commitments. "I do not trust negotiations with Iran. Why are you asking me questions as if I trust Iran? I am the last person to trust Iran. They have lied to me constantly," Trump stated.
Furthermore, President Trump made assertive comments regarding the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that the strategic waterway is currently under the complete control of the US Navy. "We have full control over the Strait of Hormuz right now. It is not under their control; we have full control. It is ours," the US President asserted.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime chokepoint located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. It serves as the world's most important oil transit chokepoint, with a significant portion of global petroleum consumption passing through its narrow shipping lanes, making it a focal point of geopolitical tension and international security strategy.
In addition to his comments on foreign policy, President Trump confirmed reports that he utilized a different aircraft when departing Turkey following a NATO summit due to security protocols. He explained that the decision was made at the request of the US Secret Service and that he followed the instructions of security personnel.
"They asked me to fly on a different plane, which was an equivalent choice in terms of security," Trump noted. The President acknowledged that he faces numerous threats, stating, "Apparently, there was a threat. I did not ask many questions about it. I receive a large number of threats."
