US President Donald Trump has issued a stern call to oil retailers and energy companies, demanding an immediate reduction in fuel prices across the United States. The President emphasized that current market conditions do not justify the high costs being passed on to consumers.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Trump made the statement via his Truth Social platform. He pointed out that with global oil prices hovering around $68 per barrel and a downward trend observed in international markets, domestic fuel prices in the US remain disproportionately high.

President Trump declared that the artificial inflation of fuel prices is unacceptable, warning that companies failing to adjust their pricing strategies may face legal repercussions. He identified $2.50 per gallon as a reasonable target price, noting that the current national average sits at approximately $3.80 per gallon. The President specifically criticized the situation in California, where prices remain significantly higher at around $5.50 per gallon, and urged local authorities to take immediate steps to reduce fuel taxes.

Furthermore, President Trump announced the initiation of official investigations to determine why fuel prices have not decreased in line with market expectations. This regulatory scrutiny is expected to involve major energy corporations, including Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Shell, and BP.

Energy policy and fuel costs have historically been central issues in US domestic politics, directly impacting inflation rates and consumer purchasing power. Presidents often exert pressure on the energy sector to stabilize prices, particularly when global oil market fluctuations do not immediately translate into relief at the pump for American drivers.
