Three US Navy carrier strike groups are reportedly heading toward the Middle East, The New York Times (NYT) reported, citing senior US officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that, according to the newspaper, the Pentagon is drawing up new operational plans at the direction of US President Donald Trump for large-scale strikes against Iran’s drone and missile arsenals, strategic energy infrastructure and other military targets.
The report says the military operation, which is estimated to last about three days, could also target command-and-control centers and strategic headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
However, US President Donald Trump has said that no military attack on Iran will take place before the Nov. 3 midterm elections in the United States.
