Ukraine has called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations (UN) Security Council. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha announced the request on his official social media account. The diplomat said it was made in response to a new wave of attacks by Russian forces in recent days.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Sybiha singled out strikes on the city of Pryluky on October 7, as well as attacks on two passenger buses in Kramatorsk and on Kyiv.
According to the minister, attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in recent days have killed 78 people and left 215 others with injuries of varying severity.
Speaking on the UN platform, Ukraine’s foreign minister called on the international community to uphold the principles and norms of the UN Charter and ensure a legal and proportionate response to the actions of the Russian Federation.
