Böyük Britaniyanın müdafiə naziri istefa verdi - Rəsmi açıqlama

The UK Secretary of State for Defence, John Healey, has officially announced his resignation from the post. According to reports from Sky News, as cited by the Operative Information Center-OMM, this decision marks a significant shift within the British government.

The resignation comes against the backdrop of delays in implementing a program to increase defense spending, which was intended to define the development of the British Armed Forces in the coming years. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, which was circulated on social media, Healey stated that the decision was difficult but necessary, arguing that the government has failed to provide the country's defense sector with the resources required to address rising security threats.

According to the outgoing minister, an inter-agency assessment conducted in January highlighted the urgent need for additional investment in the British military. However, Healey emphasized that the government and the Treasury have since failed to agree on the necessary funding. "You failed, and the Treasury was unwilling to allocate the resources necessary for the country's defense in the face of existing and growing threats," Healey stressed in his resignation letter.

John Healey had been serving as the UK Secretary of State for Defence since his appointment on July 5, 2024. The Ministry of Defence plays a critical role in the United Kingdom's national security strategy, overseeing the operational readiness of the armed forces and managing the nation's defense budget, which is currently a subject of intense political debate regarding the balance between fiscal responsibility and military modernization.
