The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is preparing to provide military assistance to the United States to ensure the opening and security of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Abu Dhabi is currently lobbying for a United Nations Security Council resolution that would authorize such a move.

Furthermore, UAE diplomats are reportedly calling on countries across Europe and Asia to form a coalition dedicated to ensuring the freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. An unnamed UAE official stated that the country is actively exploring the specific parameters of Abu Dhabi's involvement in the potential operation. According to the publication, such a step by the UAE carries the risk of escalating tensions with Iran, which could persist in the Middle East even after current regional conflicts are resolved.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most strategically important choke points, serving as the primary maritime route for oil exports from the Persian Gulf. Approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes through this narrow waterway daily. Given its geopolitical significance, any disruption to traffic in the strait has immediate and profound effects on global energy markets and international security. The involvement of regional powers like the UAE in securing the passage reflects growing concerns over maritime stability in the face of ongoing regional volatility.
