The UAE National Guard said it rescued 22 people after a fire broke out aboard a cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman on Sunday, according to Anadolu Agency.
The rescued people were Arab nationals. In a statement on “X”, the National Guard said they received first aid before being handed over to the relevant authorities.
All 22 were in stable condition, it added.
The incident took place amid ongoing tensions over navigation in the nearby Strait of Hormuz since the US-Israeli offensive against Iran began in late February.
