Türkiye has developed a new set of proposals aimed at ensuring the security of shipping in the Black Sea, according to recent statements from Ankara.
As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed that the government is actively discussing these proposals with both Russia and Ukraine. The initiative comes in response to growing international concerns regarding maritime safety in the region.
According to the minister, Türkiye is working on concrete solutions to address security challenges in the Black Sea, following calls from several nations to stabilize the maritime corridor. Minister Fidan emphasized that the current geopolitical situation is significantly impacting global food security, necessitating urgent diplomatic intervention.
The diplomat noted that the Turkish proposal package is currently under active discussion with the relevant parties, and dialogue remains ongoing to find a sustainable resolution. These efforts build upon previous discussions regarding regional maritime protocols and the regulation of vessel traffic.
The Black Sea remains a critical artery for global trade, particularly for agricultural exports. Since the escalation of regional tensions, the safety of commercial shipping has become a primary concern for the international community, with Türkiye frequently acting as a key mediator in maritime security negotiations.
