Türkiye and Lebanon discussed potential cooperation on electricity interconnections, pipelines and hydrocarbons, Türkiye’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on Wednesday.
Bayraktar said he met Lebanon’s Energy and Water Minister Joseph Saddi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, according to a statement posted on the US social media platform “X”. The talks focused on joint projects that could contribute to regional energy security.
Electricity and pipeline projects
“We discussed opportunities for joint work in electricity interconnections and hydrocarbons through pipelines that will contribute to regional energy supply security,” Bayraktar said.
He added that Türkiye could draw on its experience in energy infrastructure and resource diversification to develop practical areas of cooperation based on Lebanon’s needs and priorities in the energy sector.
Focus on reliable energy access
Bayraktar said both countries attach importance to ensuring that projects developed between Türkiye and Lebanon support “reliable and uninterrupted” access to energy across the region.
He said such initiatives could also contribute to shared prosperity and stability in the region.
