US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would be arranged soon. He also left open the possibility of further US strikes on Iran after next week’s midterm elections.

Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, following campaign events in Texas, that he had discussed both conflicts with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff, AnewZ reported.

“I think we’re making great progress on Russia and Ukraine. A meeting will be arranged soon,” Trump said.

Asked who would attend the meeting, he replied: “President Putin and President Zelensky.” Trump gave no further details about its timing, location or format.

Moscow and Kyiv held three rounds of US-mediated peace talks in Abu Dhabi and Geneva in January and February. A face-to-face meeting between Putin and Zelensky could be their first since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

On Iran, Trump claimed that Tehran was trying to reach an agreement with Washington but seeking to delay talks until after the November 3 midterm elections.

“I think we’re in a very good position with Iran. It’s a question of when I want to end this,” Trump said, repeating his earlier comments about the conflict.

Asked whether the United States might launch further strikes on Iran after the elections, Trump did not rule out military action: “Anything is possible, but I can’t tell you that.”

The conflict began with US and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February and led to a wider regional war. Despite a ceasefire and an agreement to work toward finalizing a peace deal, a lasting resolution has not yet been reached.
