US President Donald Trump said Iran is currently “not in good shape” and will ultimately surrender.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Trump made the remarks while answering journalists’ questions in the White House garden alongside representatives of technology and artificial intelligence companies.
Asked whether Iran was close to surrendering or making concessions, the US president said: “I don’t know whether they will surrender yet, but ultimately they will surrender. However, their situation is very bad.”
Responding to a question about why the United States had not objected to North Korea possessing nuclear weapons, Trump said the country was being led by a different president at the time and that he believed North Korea could have been stopped.
Donald Trump said he was a “good friend” of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “I think I’m the only person he likes, and I like him too,” he added.
Answering another question, Trump said they had facilitated the transit of large volumes of oil through the Strait of Hormuz in recent days.
“You know, over the past few days, we have moved more oil through the Strait of Hormuz than has ever been achieved at any time in history,” the US president said.
The Strait of Hormuz is a key global energy route connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. A significant share of the world’s seaborne oil trade passes through the strait, making developments affecting its security important for international energy markets.
