US President Donald Trump has announced a decision to increase import tariffs for all countries from 10 percent to 15 percent, effective immediately.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the decision was shared by the president via his Truth Social platform. The move follows a period of intense legal and political deliberation regarding Washington's trade policy.

"Based on a comprehensive review of the ridiculous and deeply un-American tariff decision handed down yesterday by the US Supreme Court after months of deliberation, please consider this statement as official notice that I, as President of the United States, am fully authorized and legally validly raising the 10 percent global tariffs applied to countries to 15 percent, effective immediately," the post stated.

According to US President Donald Trump, the Washington administration will continue to identify and implement new, legally permissible tariffs over the coming months. He characterized this strategy as a "successful process to make America great again," reaching levels previously unseen in the country's economic history. This announcement comes just one day after the president signed an executive order initially imposing a 10 percent tariff on imports from all nations.

The implementation of such broad-based tariffs marks a significant shift in global trade dynamics, reflecting the administration's protectionist economic agenda. Historically, such measures are designed to encourage domestic production and reduce trade deficits, though they often lead to reciprocal actions from international trading partners. This latest escalation underscores the administration's commitment to prioritizing domestic industrial interests through aggressive fiscal policy and executive action.
