US President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging Israeli voters to re-elect him and calling on Israel to continue its military campaign against Iran until it is completed, Anadolu Agency reported.
In a post on his “Truth Social” platform on Sunday, Trump referred to an endorsement letter he published on Oct. 18, in which he praised Netanyahu as an “outstanding Warrior Prime Minister” and highlighted their close relationship during military operations against Iran.
“As everyone is aware, including the enemy, Bibi and I have had a great relationship in winning together,” Trump wrote, citing the US military operation against Iran, called “Operation Epic Fury”.
Trump claimed that Iran had lost its navy and air force and that its military and economy were in disarray. He also said Iran’s inflation had reached 301% and that a naval blockade had stopped the country from exporting oil. He further claimed that two levels of Iran’s leadership, military and civilian, had been eliminated.
Urging Israeli voters to support Netanyahu, Trump wrote: “Vote for Bibi Netanyahu for Prime Minister. We have to finish the job that we started!”
In his Oct. 18 letter to the Israeli public, Trump called Netanyahu a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and an “even greater Partner for Peace” in confronting Iran. He referred to what he described as Iran’s decades-long threats against Israel and the US.
Trump argued that Iran would eventually have acted on its rhetoric if it had not been confronted, saying the country had been “systematically destroyed, both militarily and financially”. He added that the US would have to take over the effort if Israel elected a different leader.
“If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so,” he wrote.
Praising Netanyahu’s resilience in the face of domestic and international opposition, Trump said the Israeli leader had grown stronger under pressure and represented the kind of partner Washington expected from Israel.
Trump ended the letter with an endorsement of Netanyahu’s re-election bid, writing: “BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
