A shooting incident in the U.S. state of North Carolina has resulted in three fatalities and one injury, according to local law enforcement reports.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the incident occurred in the Prospect Hill community of Caswell County.
Authorities were alerted to the scene around 8:00 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, law enforcement and emergency medical teams discovered the bodies of three individuals inside the residence. The injured survivor received immediate medical attention at the scene before being transported to Duke University Hospital for further treatment.
Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden stated that all individuals involved were adult members of the same family. According to preliminary investigations, one of the deceased is suspected of carrying out the attack. Sheriff Durden emphasized that the incident was confined to the interior of the home and posed no ongoing threat to the general public.
Officials noted that there were no prior reports or complaints involving the family members filed with law enforcement agencies. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
