Sweden has launched large-scale military exercises involving NATO member states and representatives from Ukraine.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Swedish Armed Forces' press service released information regarding the start of the maneuvers. The drills, titled "Aurora 26," are recognized as the largest national military exercises in the country's history.

According to official statements, more than 16,000 Swedish military personnel, sailors, and officers are taking part in the event. Additionally, approximately 1,500 foreign troops have been deployed for the exercises, including personnel from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Estonia, and Latvia. The maneuvers are scheduled to continue until May 13, with a primary focus on the defense of Swedish and NATO territories and the strengthening of security in strategically vital regions.

The exercises are being conducted primarily in southern and central Sweden, on Gotland Island, and across the Baltic Sea region. Local authorities have issued warnings to the public regarding the movement of extensive military convoys on roads, advising drivers to exercise caution. These maneuvers take place within the context of Sweden's recent full integration into NATO, aimed at enhancing the alliance's collective defense capabilities and ensuring stability in Northern Europe and the Baltic region.
