A national scientific-practical conference titled "Heydar Aliyev and the sustainable development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan" was held at the Culture Center of the State Security Service (SSS) to commemorate the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event, organized by the SSS Academy named after Heydar Aliyev, brought together high-ranking officials, members of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), heads of higher education institutions, security veterans, and cadets, Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the SSS press service.
During the conference, the head of the Academy, Major General Elshad Nasirov, spoke on the exceptional role of the National Leader in the development of modern Azerbaijan. He noted that the country's sustainable development strategy was built on the solid foundations laid by Heydar Aliyev and is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), Professor Ziyafat Asgarov, characterized the National Leader as the founder of the national statehood ideology, emphasizing that his return to power in the late 20th century prevented the collapse of the state and restored national unity. Deputy Minister of Culture Saadat Yusifova and other speakers, including representatives from BP and Baku State University, further highlighted how the current modernization policy has strengthened Azerbaijan's economic power and international prestige.
Heydar Aliyev, who led Azerbaijan during two distinct periods, is recognized as the architect of the country's modern independence. His strategic vision, particularly the "Contract of the Century" signed in 1994, transformed Azerbaijan into a global energy player and established the framework for the nation's current economic stability. This legacy remains the guiding principle for Azerbaijan's domestic and foreign policy, including the comprehensive restoration and reconstruction efforts currently underway in the liberated territories of Garabagh and East Zangezur.
Following the screening of a documentary film dedicated to the National Leader, the conference continued its work with sectional sessions.
