The snowy and frosty weather conditions prevailing across the country in recent days have caused temporary disruptions in student attendance at some schools located in remote mountainous areas. An official statement has been issued regarding the current situation.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the State Agency for Preschool and General Education stated that the icing of roads in various regions and the resulting transportation difficulties have made the safety of students and teaching staff a top priority.

In this regard, a short-term decrease in attendance at a small number of educational institutions located in areas with difficult terrain is considered a normal occurrence. The agency emphasized that no decision has been made to suspend classes across the board. The teaching and learning process continues in accordance with existing regulatory rules throughout Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, it was noted that appropriate measures will be taken to compensate for missed lessons in schools where temporary attendance gaps occurred, ensuring the full implementation of the educational curriculum. The agency also highlighted that the heating of educational institutions during unfavorable weather remains a focus. Working groups have been formed with relevant bodies to promptly resolve any issues in this area. Currently, schools across Azerbaijan are being heated through centralized systems and alternative means, including wood, diesel, and electric radiators.

In Azerbaijan, the winter season often brings challenging weather to the Greater and Lesser Caucasus mountain ranges, where remote villages are located at high altitudes. The government regularly monitors infrastructure to ensure that educational standards are maintained despite seasonal climate shifts. These measures are part of a broader state strategy to ensure uninterrupted education and the safety of citizens during the winter months in the Republic.
