The Shirvan canal, which experienced a leakage in the section passing through the Goychay district, has been successfully repaired. The restoration works on the embankment have now been fully completed.
This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan (ADSEA).
The agency noted that water supply has been restored in the Yevlakh, Agdash, Goychay, Ujar, and Zardab districts. Water provision for the Hajigabul, Agsu, Kurdamir, and Shamakhi districts is expected to be fully restored by tomorrow evening, with full-scale water supply across all areas scheduled to resume by the morning of August 7.
Since the incident occurred, specialized equipment and personnel were immediately deployed to the site to commence repairs. As a result of these prompt measures, the embankment was restored in a short period, and water supply was resumed in stages. During the temporary interruption of the water supply, water trucks were dispatched to the affected areas to ensure residents had access to essential water resources.
The Shirvan canal is a critical piece of water infrastructure in Azerbaijan, playing a vital role in the irrigation of agricultural lands and the provision of drinking water to several central regions of the country. The State Water Resources Agency regularly conducts maintenance and monitoring of such infrastructure to prevent disruptions and ensure the sustainable management of water resources.
