Azerbaijan’s leading trampoline gymnast, Seljan Mahsudova, won two gold medals at the final stage of the World Cup in Cottbus, Germany. She took first place in the individual event and in mixed synchronized trampoline with her brother, Mahsud.

Mahsudova said Cottbus had become a successful city for her. Recalling that she secured her qualification for the Paris Olympics there, she said she had achieved success in the city again. She emphasized that winning both events was especially joyful.

The athlete said she had struggled at almost every World Cup stage during the season, failing to reach the finals or win a medal. The two gold medals in Cottbus, she said, were a kind of compensation for those earlier disappointments.

The individual gold secured Mahsudova third place in the season-long World Cup standings. The mixed synchronized pairs victory strengthened the duo’s lead in the overall rankings. The gymnast thanked national team head coach Vladimir Vasilyevich Shulikin for his support and work. The World Championships will be held in Nanjing, China, from Nov. 4 to 8.
