The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said Thursday it had intercepted and destroyed a drone over Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, according to Anadolu Agency.
Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki announced the interception in a statement but did not identify where the drone came from or provide details about possible casualties or damage.
The announcement came amid escalating hostilities between the coalition and Yemen’s Houthi group.
Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government against the Houthis since 2015, after the group seized the capital, Sanaa, and other parts of Yemen the previous year.
