Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan held a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss coordinated efforts against regional threats.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Al Arabiya's reference to a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the two diplomats focused on ongoing Iranian strikes targeting the territories of Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf nations. According to the report, Faisal bin Farhan and Marco Rubio exchanged views on potential response measures to the current security situation. The official statement noted: "The parties exchanged views on ways to respond to the ongoing incidents to ensure the security of the Kingdom and to protect its citizens and residents."

The diplomatic outreach follows a significant escalation in the region. On February 28, the United States and Israel initiated military operations against Iran. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced a large-scale retaliatory operation, launching strikes against targets in Israel, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, Washington has reaffirmed its commitment to defending its strategic allies in the Gulf against external aggression.

This strategic coordination highlights the deepening security partnership between Riyadh and Washington. Historically, the two nations have maintained a robust defense relationship aimed at ensuring the stability of global energy markets and countering regional instability. The current dialogue underscores a unified stance in addressing maritime security and territorial integrity in the face of unconventional warfare and missile threats in the Middle East.
