Azerbaijan U-21 forward Agadadas Salyanski has spoken about the team’s European Championship qualifying match against Scotland.
The 22-year-old striker said the opponents were a strong team. He added that Azerbaijan had prepared seriously for the game and analyzed Scotland’s strengths and weaknesses.
“The game against Scotland will not be easy. In particular, such a demanding away match will be very difficult. We will do everything we can to earn a point or points in tomorrow’s game. We will try to represent our country with distinction,” Salyanski said.
The footballer stressed that most of the players in the current squad compete in the Premier League. According to him, regular match practice helps the team in games of this kind.
After the match against Scotland, Azerbaijan’s U-21 team will face Gibraltar in Baku on Oct. 6. Salyanski said they would be thinking only about winning that game.
The forward also expressed his desire to receive a call-up to the senior national team. He said he would try to perform well after returning to Araz-Nakhchivan, where he is playing on loan.
The Scotland-Azerbaijan match will be held at Rugby Park stadium in Kilmarnock on Sept. 30. The game will kick off at 22:30 Baku time. Azerbaijan are fifth in the group with seven points after eight matches.
UEFA European Championship qualifying matches determine which national teams advance to the final tournament. The fixtures also provide young players with valuable international experience and an opportunity to compete for places in their countries’ senior squads.
