Russia has issued a stern warning regarding the potential targeting of British military assets in response to the United Kingdom's continued support for Ukraine. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, international media outlets have reported on the escalating rhetoric between Moscow and Western capitals.
It has been reported that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has demanded that the United Kingdom reconsider its stance on the ongoing conflict. Officials in Moscow warned that the current trajectory could escalate the conflict into an entirely new and dangerous phase.
During a press conference in Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the United Kingdom and France are "playing with fire" by providing Ukraine with missile technologies capable of conducting precision strikes. In response, the UK Ministry of Defence emphasized that Russia should not underestimate the British government's resolve to resist aggression against Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and its allies.
The diplomatic friction follows recent reports that the United Kingdom intends to grant Kyiv access to classified technologies for the production of "Storm Shadow" long-range cruise missiles, which are capable of striking targets deep within Russian territory. France has also reportedly agreed to the licensing of relevant technologies for the European-manufactured missiles. The Storm Shadow, known for its stealth capabilities and precision, has become a focal point in the debate over the extent of Western military aid provided to Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale invasion in 2022.
