Peace has opened doors for strengthened relations between the United States, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, contributing to the economic prosperity of all three nations.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these remarks were made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on August 8, 2025, in a statement marking the first anniversary of the Peace Summit held in Washington, which secured peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
A year ago, US President Donald Trump facilitated the peace agreement between the two nations. Rubio noted that the declaration ended decades of conflict in the South Caucasus and marked the beginning of the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP).
"Over the past twelve months, the United States has worked shoulder-to-shoulder with Armenia and Azerbaijan to turn this promise into progress. TRIPP, a multimodal transit route that will modernize railways, highways, and energy and digital infrastructure, is becoming a reality as engineering surveys for railways in Armenia are already underway and Azerbaijan is nearing the completion of the construction of roads and railways that will connect with Armenia," the statement emphasized.
Rubio also announced the launch of the Trans-Caspian Enterprise Fund, capitalized with $201 million in US government funding to stimulate private sector investment along the Middle Corridor:
"This progress reflects a simple truth: peace and prosperity reinforce each other. TRIPP is more than just an infrastructure project—it is a vital link in the Trans-Caspian Trade Route, a driver of commercial opportunities for the United States and others, and a model for how economic cooperation can solidify peace after the resolution of long-standing disputes.
As Armenia and Azerbaijan move forward on this foundation, the United States remains fully committed to working with them. We congratulate both countries on the courage and vision they have demonstrated over the past year and look forward to continued progress toward a solid, lasting peace in the South Caucasus."
