Short-term rainfall accompanied by lightning has been recorded in several mountainous and foothill regions of Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the National Hydrometeorological Service released updated data as of 9:00 a.m. on August 6, noting that while most of the country experienced dry weather, precipitation occurred in specific areas.
Rainfall levels of 1 mm were recorded in Dashkasan, Gadabay, Shamkir, Ismayilli, Khachmaz, Gryz, Qusar, Ganja, Saribash (Gakh), and Shaki.
Currently, a northwest wind is blowing in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, with maximum speeds reaching 18 m/s. In other regions, a southeast wind prevails, with peak speeds of 21 m/s in Julfa and 16 m/s in Nakhchivan. Maximum temperatures reached 34°C in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, 38°C in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 39°C in the lowland regions, and 26°C in mountainous areas.
The National Hydrometeorological Service, which operates under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, is responsible for monitoring weather patterns across the country. These meteorological updates are critical for the agricultural sector and public safety, as the agency provides essential forecasts to help citizens and industries prepare for sudden climate shifts, such as the recent temperature drops and wind gusts observed across the Republic.
