Police in Baku have detained a woman suspected of stealing a significant amount of cash and jewelry from an apartment in the Yasamal district.
The suspect allegedly entered a residence through an unlocked door, making off with 900 manats in cash and jewelry valued at 38,800 manats. The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) that officers from the Yasamal District Police Department conducted a targeted operation to identify the individual, who reportedly used various disguises to evade detection. The suspect, identified as Metanet Huseynova, was subsequently detained. During the search, a portion of the stolen jewelry was recovered and seized as material evidence.
A criminal case has been initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan regarding the theft. Authorities are currently continuing investigative measures to locate the remaining stolen property and determine if the suspect was involved in other similar incidents across the capital. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a public advisory urging citizens in Azerbaijan to remain vigilant regarding the security of their private property. Residents are encouraged to ensure that apartment entrance doors are securely locked at all times and to immediately report any suspicious behavior to the police to prevent such crimes in residential areas.
