Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a statement marking the anniversary of the 12-day military conflict initiated by Israel last year. The head of state praised the unity and resilience demonstrated by the Iranian people throughout the period of heightened tensions.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the IRNA news agency, President Pezeshkian described the conflict as a symbol of the country's national solidarity and paid tribute to those who lost their lives.
He asserted that the Israeli government's calculations—which aimed to weaken Iranian society and incite instability through strikes against military leadership and strategic infrastructure—were fundamentally flawed.
According to Pezeshkian, the resolve and resistance shown by the Iranian people, combined with the high state of readiness of the armed forces, prevented Israel from achieving its stated objectives. The Iranian leader noted that these factors ultimately compelled the opposing side to accept a ceasefire.
The conflict began on June 13 of last year with a sudden Israeli strike on Iran. During these events, high-ranking military personnel, nuclear scientists, politicians, and civilians were killed. The confrontation, which later saw reported involvement from the United States targeting nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow, concluded on June 24.
This rhetoric underscores the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, where Iran continues to frame its defense strategy around the concept of 'resistance' against external military pressure. The anniversary serves as a focal point for Tehran to reaffirm its domestic stability and military deterrence capabilities in the face of regional challenges.
