The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has accused the Pentagon of concealing information regarding US military casualties.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the IRGC released a statement alleging that the number of US military personnel killed in Jordan is significantly higher than the figures officially reported by the Pentagon.
The statement claims that the US Department of Defense is withholding information from the public, specifically regarding the number of fatalities resulting from the attack on a US military base in Jordan.
Previously, The New York Times reported that the Pentagon had allegedly failed to publicly disclose details concerning several recent attacks by Iranian-backed forces against US troops, as well as the resulting injuries sustained by a significant number of US personnel.
Reports have also circulated suggesting that approximately 100 US military personnel were injured in attacks on US bases.
Following these allegations, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed in a television interview that, as of July 7, approximately 100 individuals had been identified as having sustained various degrees of injury. Parnell noted, however, that 96 percent of those injured have since returned to duty. To date, the US side maintains that three military personnel have lost their lives as a result of these attacks.
The Pentagon's casualty reporting practices have historically been a subject of intense scrutiny, particularly regarding transparency in conflict zones. The US military maintains strict protocols for notifying next of kin and verifying casualty data before public release, which often leads to discrepancies between official government figures and external claims during the immediate aftermath of hostile engagements.
