Pakistan and Afghanistan exchanged accusations on Sunday after both countries claimed their forces had killed dozens of militants in separate operations.
Pakistan’s army said its forces killed 71 militants “backed and sponsored” by Afghanistan and India during security operations across the southwestern province of Balochistan over the past 96 hours. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered, according to a statement cited by the original source.

Kabul and New Delhi had not responded to Islamabad’s accusations at the time of reporting. Pakistan has faced a series of militant attacks in recent years and has repeatedly accused India and Afghanistan of supporting militant groups. Both countries reject the allegations.
Afghanistan accuses Pakistan of backing militants
Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry said its forces killed 28 militants and wounded 32 others in the eastern province of Nuristan after alleged Islamic State, also known as Daesh, operatives crossed the border from Pakistan.
The ministry accused “Pakistani militias” of supporting the militants. It said most of those killed were security personnel who had served under Afghanistan’s former government.
Pakistan rejected the Afghan claims as “frivolous, baseless and devoid of any truth”.
“Pakistan categorically rejects the fabricated claims of involvement by its security forces or intelligence agencies in any internal clashes in Nuristan or elsewhere in Afghanistan, including allegations of recruiting or training former Afghan security personnel or facilitating Daesh or any other terrorist group operating in Afghanistan,” Pakistan’s Information Ministry said in a statement.
