Mourinho says Sevilla’s goal was unexpected in 4-1 win

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho shared his thoughts after his side beat Sevilla 4-1 at home in the ninth round of La Liga.

“Sevilla’s goal was unexpected. But overall, it was a very good evening. We played well from the opening minutes. This was largely thanks to the players’ strong motivation, their respect for the opponent and the careful analysis they had done,” Mourinho said at a post-match news conference.

Mourinho highlighted the team’s individual quality as well as its pace and energy during the match. “We have many players with strong individual qualities. This time, the pace and energy were completely different — it was not like after our match in Rome,” he said.

The Portuguese coach also spoke about goalkeeper Andriy Lunin: “I have great respect for Lunin. He is an excellent goalkeeper and deserves to play. But Courtois is currently performing at a very high level.”
