Barcelona have equalled Real Madrid’s record by winning their first nine matches of the 2026/2027 Spanish La Liga season. According to Marca, the Madrid club achieved the feat in the 1968/1969 season.
The Catalan side beat Betis 5-2 in a match on Oct. 17, in the ninth round. Yamal scored in the 10th minute, Rodri in the 41st, Jezus in the 51st, Garcia in the 62nd and Olmo in the 81st. Gomez scored Betis’ goals in the 27th minute, and Ezzalzuli in the 53rd. Barcelona’s Bernal was sent off in the 54th minute.
Barcelona have collected all 27 points available from nine matches and scored 39 goals. Real Madrid won nine consecutive games in the first nine rounds of the 1968/1969 season, scoring 21 goals.
With 27 points after nine rounds, Barcelona top the standings. The team will host Real Madrid in the next round on Oct. 25. The Madrid club are fourth with 18 points and have a game in hand.
