Sabah player Veljko Simic has shared his thoughts ahead of the team’s upcoming Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund. In an interview with Sportal.az, he said the game would be another major test for the team and that they enjoy playing in such matches.
Simic acknowledged that the opposition is strong but said Sabah would do everything it could to win and that he believes the team has a good chance. Comparing Slavia with Borussia Dortmund, the player said the teams are different and that Slavia is a difficult opponent in individual duels.
According to Simic, Borussia Dortmund may have a bigger name, but that is not decisive in the Champions League: all teams in the competition are of a high standard, and players must be ready to face any opponent.
Simic said playing at home in front of tremendous fan support was an advantage. However, he said the match would be decided by the 11 players on the pitch and that his team must perform at the highest level. He added that Sabah is fast and strong, and said he believes the team can compete with an opponent that plays in the Bundesliga.
