Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has marked 25 years in government leadership.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that foreign media outlets have covered the milestone.
Modi first served as chief minister of Gujarat and has led the Indian government since 2014.
“When I was sworn in as Gujarat’s chief minister on October 7, 2001, I could never have imagined reaching this point. Today, I am marking 25 uninterrupted years in leadership. This has been possible thanks to the people’s unwavering support and blessings,” Modi said.
He outlined key goals for India’s development by 2047, when the country will mark the 100th anniversary of its independence.
Among the goals Modi highlighted were making India self-reliant, strengthening its position as a global manufacturing hub, hosting the Olympic Games and carrying out a human spaceflight mission.
India gained independence from British rule in 1947. The year 2047 will mark the centenary of that independence, a milestone around which the country has set long-term development goals.
