The return of Armenian detainees held in Baku has been included among the priorities of Armenia’s 2027 state budget
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports, citing Armenian media, that Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced this during a parliamentary discussion of the foreign ministry’s budget priorities.
Mirzoyan said the issue appears in the section of the document devoted to consolidating and institutionalizing peace with Azerbaijan. He said a lasting peace process in the region and the signing of a peace agreement are closely linked to fully resolving humanitarian issues, including the fate of missing persons. The diplomat stressed that resolving the issue is not a matter of finance.
It is recalled that Azerbaijan holds 19 Armenian detainees, including representatives of the former illegal regime in Garabagh and its military-political leadership. Following court proceedings, they received prison sentences of varying terms, including life imprisonment.
