Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed expanding cooperation with Seoul in investment, industry, technology, finance and infrastructure during talks in South Korea.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held high-level meetings in Seoul during a state visit to South Korea. The talks covered the development of the special strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as trade, investment, cultural ties, critical minerals, digital technologies, transport and the automotive industry.

During meetings with National Assembly Speaker Cho Jung-sik and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Mirziyoyev discussed strengthening interparliamentary cooperation and monitoring the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.

More than 300 representatives of government agencies, financial institutions and leading companies from both countries attended the Uzbekistan-Korea business forum. Mirziyoyev proposed combining Uzbekistan’s resource base with Korean technologies and investment.

Priority areas for cooperation include industrial production, energy and the green economy, transport infrastructure, digitalization and artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

Within the framework of financial cooperation, the sides discussed projects with a total value of $8 billion.

Uzbekistan and South Korea have developed broad economic ties, with Korean companies involved in industrial, energy, infrastructure and technology projects in Uzbekistan. The new initiatives are aimed at expanding investment and strengthening cooperation in high-technology sectors.
