Lionel Messi has returned to Inter Miami after his farewell match for Argentina. The national team beat Benin 3-0 in Buenos Aires on October 7. The match was the 39-year-old forward’s final appearance for Argentina.
Messi scored once against Benin and set up two goals for his teammates. He therefore contributed to all three goals in Argentina’s win in his farewell match.
Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, has been a world champion and Olympic champion with Argentina. He has also won the Copa América twice.
The forward scored 126 goals and provided 70 assists in 208 appearances for Argentina. After his farewell match, Messi will continue his club career with Inter Miami.
