Corcia Meloni: Aİ miqrasiya və enerji problemini həll etməlidir

"The failure to resolve the migration issue is diminishing Europeans' trust in EU institutions."

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these remarks were made by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

According to the Prime Minister, uncontrolled migration flows create significant security challenges for citizens, impacting both the economy and increasing social tensions. Meloni stated that these circumstances necessitate a more careful and strategic approach to cooperation with countries in the Southern Mediterranean region.

The Italian leader emphasized that illegal migration channels often operate within the same countries where the EU seeks to expand energy cooperation. "For this reason, several challenges facing EU countries—migration, energy, and artificial intelligence—are closely interconnected. When citizens see that the most critical problems remain unresolved, trust in the EU declines, making people more vulnerable to manipulation, including influences generated through artificial intelligence. EU member states must find collective solutions to these issues," Meloni added.

Italy has long been at the forefront of the European migration debate due to its geographical position as a primary entry point for migrants crossing the Mediterranean. Under Meloni's leadership, Rome has consistently advocated for stronger external border controls and comprehensive agreements with North African nations to curb illegal departures. This call for a unified EU strategy comes as the bloc faces increasing pressure to balance humanitarian obligations with regional security and economic stability, particularly as energy security remains a top priority following global supply shifts.
