An aircraft has caught fire at Mehrabad International Airport near Tehran following a recent air strike on the facility.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Al Hadath television channel released information regarding the incident. According to reports, one of the aircraft on the tarmac burst into flames following a series of intensive strikes targeting the area.

The escalation follows the commencement of military operations by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the launch of a large-scale operation, claiming to have targeted facilities in Israel, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

Mehrabad International Airport, located in the western part of the Iranian capital, serves as one of the country's primary aviation hubs for both domestic and military purposes. The facility is frequently used for government transport and logistics, making it a strategic site during regional military escalations. These developments come amid a period of heightened geopolitical tensions involving US President Donald Trump's administration and regional allies, as the international community monitors the potential for further destabilization in the Middle East.
