China has condemned a Houthi attack on an airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that foreign media carried the information.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing condemned the attack, which caused numerous deaths and injuries, and was seriously concerned about the escalation of the conflict.
“China has always opposed attacks on civilians and civilian facilities,” she said.
Mao Ning added that Beijing called on the parties to avoid steps that could further heighten tensions in the region, resolve their differences through dialogue and negotiations, and work to achieve peace and stability in the region as soon as possible.
According to reports, 13 people were killed and more than 300 injured in the Houthi attack on the airport on October 10.
Türkiye, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt have also condemned the attacks on Riyadh airport. The countries said they supported lawful measures and steps to prevent similar threats.
China’s statement comes amid calls from several countries for de-escalation and dialogue in the region. Beijing has repeatedly advocated resolving disputes through negotiations and has said that civilian lives and infrastructure must be protected during conflicts.
